Ritz recall overview:

  • Who: Farmfoods is recalling Ritz Cheese Sandwich, affecting all batch codes of the 91g product.
  • Why: The recall is due to allergens not being properly emphasized on the product’s label.
  • Where: The recall is effective in England and Wales.

Farmfoods is recalling its Ritz Cheese Sandwich after discovering that three allergens — milk, soya, and wheat (gluten) — were not adequately highlighted on the product’s label.

This oversight poses a health risk to individuals with allergies or intolerances to these ingredients.

“The product contains milk, soya, and wheat (gluten), making it a health risk to those with an allergy or intolerance to milk, an allergy to soya, or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease”, the Ritz recall notice says.

The recall, announced Feb. 12, 2026, specifically targets products originating from Indonesia. According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the affected product is the Ritz Cheese Sandwich with a pack size of 91g.

The recall notice says no other Ritz products are involved, and the issue is confined to products from Indonesia.

Customers urged to return affected Ritz Cheese Sandwiches for refund

Farmfoods said it is taking proactive steps to address the issue by recalling the affected products and displaying point-of-sale notices in all retail stores and on their website.

“We take consumer safety very seriously and sincerely apologise to our loyal customers for this situation and any inconvenience it may have caused,” Farmfoods said.

The company advises customers to return the Ritz Cheese Sandwich to the store for a full refund, even without a receipt.

Customers can contact Farmfoods Customer Services at 0121 700 7160 for further information or assistance.

Farmfoods says it has not received any reports of illness or injury related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the Ritz recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

In other recall news, Coca-Cola announced a Europe-wide recall early February for multiple beverages over concerns they contain elevated levels of chlorate.
