Orangehome Pest Repeller Electric Shock Recall Overview:

  • Who: The Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued a recall for the Orangehome Ultrasonic Pest Repeller.
  • Why: The product presents a risk of electric shock due to being fitted with incorrect pin lengths.
  • Where: The recall is effective in the UK.

The UK safety watchdog is recalling a pest repeller as it presents a risk of electric shock.

The recall notice for Orangehome Ultrasonic Pest Repellers was posted Apr. 2 to the Office for Product Safety and Standards website. The product can be identified as an electronic plug-in pest control for indoor use supplied in a pack of four.

According to the office, the product presents a risk of electric shock due to being fitted with incorrect pin lengths.

The earth pin on the 3-pin plug is the same length as the live and neutral pins, the notice says. The earth pin is also “sleeved.”

“Due to these factors, the device may end up being connected to the mains without being earthed and therefore presents a serious risk of electric shock,” the recall notice says.

Orangehome Ultrasonic Pest Repeller Amazon Listing Removed

The pest repeller is being recalled from consumers, and the product’s Amazon listing has also been removed.

The recall notice did not state whether there had been any incidents in relation to the recalled product so far.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

The news comes as the Office for Product Safety and Standards is also recalling a water heater as it presents a “serious risk of electric shock.”

The recall notice for the Sorand Water Heater 2000W was posted Mar. 25 to the Office for Product Safety and Standards website.
