Ashwood TK Maxx Leather Gloves Chromium Recall Overview:
- Who: TK Maxx is recalling Ashwood women’s red leather gloves.
- Why: The gloves present a serious chemical hazard to wearers due to high levels of chromium.
- Where: The products were sold in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Pairs of women’s red leather gloves sold at TK Maxx are being recalled across the UK and the Republic of Ireland as they present a “serious chemical hazard” to wearers.
In a recall notice issued Apr. 9 on the Office for Product Safety and Standards website, it was announced that Ashwood brand women’s red leather gloves style 071416 were being recalled nationwide.
The product has been identified as having a high level of chromium VI in the leather that is above the legal maximum permissible, the recall notice states.
“The product presents a serious chemical hazard due to high levels of Chromium 6,” according to the recall notice.
The recall notice did not state if there had been any adverse reactions to date. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
TK Maxx Warns of Skin Irritation Due To Chromium in Ashwood Fine Leather Gloves
TK Maxx said the product was on sale in its stores between Nov. 2020 and Dec. 2020.
“We have found that the leather has an elevated level of a substance which could result in skin irritation,” the notice states. “The issue affects only style 071416 – this style information can be found on the customer receipt.”
Customers who bought the affected gloves should “stop using them immediately” and return them to any TK Maxx store in the UK or Republic of Ireland for a full refund.
Meanwhile, Tesco has recalled some of its soup products due to concerns that they may contain metal fragments. Those who purchased Tesco Chicken and Vegetable cup soup with croutons should check the label to see if it has been recalled as the product is not safe to eat.
