Tesco Max All-In-One Cough & Cold Lemon Sachets Recall Overview:

Tesco has recalled around 78,000 packs of its Max All-In-One Cough & Cold Lemon Sachets due to labeling which incorrectly states the amount of the medicine children under 16 can take.
Tesco now says the sachets, which contain the drug paracetamol, should not be taken by anyone under the age of 16. The company has taken the medicine off the shelves while the labeling is fixed.
Paracetamol is safe for children under the age of 16 but can begin to present health risks when taken in high doses.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) released a statement advising consumers not to be overly concerned by the Tesco recall.
“We would like to reassure patients and parents that if you or someone under the age of 16 have used recently these sachets and have suffered no ill effects there is no cause for concern,” MHRA Chief Safety Officer Alison Cave said.
The MHRA is asking anyone who has suffered adverse reactions from taking the sachets to contact the Yellow Card Scheme.
Each pack of Tesco Max All-In-One Cough & Cold Lemon Sachets contains ten 1,000 milligram sachets. In addition to paracetamol, the sachets contain an expectorant called guaifenesin and phenylephrine, a decongestant.
The affected sachets batch numbers are 9MW0145 with an expiry date of Nov 2022, 0CW0054 with an expiry date of Jan 2023, and 0FW0133 with an expiry date of May 2023.
Tesco has asked consumers who own the sachets to double check dosing information printed on the products packaging. Sachets containing the incorrect labeling can be returned to Tesco for a refund.
Children between the ages of 12 and 15 are recommended to consume a maximum of 3000 milligrams of paracetamol each day, while the dosing information printed on the Tesco sachets says children of that age can take what would amount to up to 4000 milligrams per day.
Children who may have taken more than the recommended daily dose of paracetamol should wait at least 24 hours before taking more, according to the National Health Service.
