Marks & Spencer recall overview:

  • Who: Marks & Spencer is recalling Authentic Greek Yoghurt with Vanilla, 500g packs.
  • Why: The product contains gluten, which is not declared on the label.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United Kingdom.

Marks & Spencer is recalling its Authentic Greek Yoghurt with Vanilla due to the presence of undeclared gluten, posing a risk to those with gluten allergies or coeliac disease.

The Marks & Spencer recall, announced on April 18, affects 500g packs of Authentic Greek Yoghurt with Vanilla, with a use-by date of May 12, 2026.

The issue arises from gluten being present in the yoghurt without being mentioned on the packaging, which could be hazardous for individuals with gluten intolerance or coeliac disease.

โ€œThis product may contain gluten making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to gluten or have coeliac disease,โ€ the recall notice says.

Marks & Spencer has taken steps to inform customers through point-of-sale notices in stores and on its website, advising those affected to return the product for a full refund.

Consumers with gluten allergy advised to avoid Greek Yoghurt

Marks & Spencer’s recall of its Authentic Greek Yoghurt with Vanilla is a precautionary measure to protect consumers who might be at risk due to the presence of gluten not listed on the product label.

The company has been proactive in addressing the issue by reaching out to allergy support organizations to inform their members about the Marks & Spencer recall.

“Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product and on Marks & Spencerโ€™s website,” the recall notice says.

Customers who have purchased the affected Greek Yoghurt are urged not to consume it if they have a gluten allergy or intolerance. Instead, they should return it to the store for a refund. The Food Standards Agency has issued an Allergy Alert to ensure consumers are aware of the potential risk associated with the product.
