- Who: Sneyd’s Wonderfeeds Ltd. issued a recall for certain batches of its Wonderdog Active Light, Wonderdog Special and Wonderdog Original dog food products.
- Why: Sneyd’s issued the recall due to a salmonella contamination.
- Where: The recall affects consumers across the United Kingdom.
Sneyd’s Wonderfeeds Ltd. has issued a recall for three of its dog food products after discovering one of the ingredients used was contaminated with salmonella.
The recall notice was published by the UK Food Standards Agency on Mar. 9 and advises customers not to use the products.
Sneyd’s initiated the recall after a supplier alerted the company to a possible salmonella contamination in the Herb Blend that goes into its Sneyd’s Wonderdog Active Light, Sneyd’s Wonderdog Special and Sneyd’s Wonderdog Original products, according to a point of sale recall notice.
Sneyd’s says it will post the point of sale recall notice in all retail locations where the affected dog food products were sold.
The recalled products, which come in 15 kg packages, are two batches of Sneyd’s Wonderdog Active Light with best-before dates of Dec. 21, 2022, and Jan. 6, 2023; multiple batches of Sneyd’s Wonderdog Special with best-before dates between Dec. 3, 2022, to Feb. 14, 2023, and multiple batches of Sneyd’s Wonderdog Original with best-before dates between Dec. 3, 2022, to Feb. 14, 2023.

Exposure to salmonella can cause illness in both humans and animals, according to Sneyd’s, which notes that animals may not present signs of illness.
Symptoms of salmonella poisoning in animals include diarrhoea, according to the recall notice.
Salmonella contamination is a common reason for a food product recall, including pet food. Earlier this month, Dogs Choice recalled three different types of its frozen dog food after discovering they contained salmonella.
