British supermarket giant ASDA has recalled two lines of its children’s hoodies due to faulty drawstrings that pose a safety risk to kids wearing them.

According to a recall notice posted to the company website, the 304 Soda Hoodie Jnr Mint and 304 World Hoodie Jnr Pink are being recalled “due to a potential issue with the drawcords, which may cause a risk of entrapment.”

The company says the affected mint hoodies have the barcodes:

  • 505189727012
  • 5059189726176
  • 5059189726152
  • 5059189726138
  • 5059189726190

The affected pink hoodies have the barcodes:

  • 5059189727173
  • 5059189727135
  • 50591897111
  • 5059189726695
  • 5059189727159

ASDA Consumers Can Return Hoodies For Full Refund

Anyone with one of the hoodies with the listed barcodes can take it into the most convenient ASDA for a full refund without the receipt, the company says in the notice, adding: “We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

According to the Daily Mail, the hoodies retail at £24.99 and are part of ASDA’s George fashion line.

Recently, clothing manufacturer NorseKoden had to recall its Kattnakken Junior Rain Jackets in Canada, also due to a strangulation hazard posed by the drawstring. In a recall notice, the company says the drawstrings can get caught on playground equipment, fences or other objects and result in strangulation or, in the case of a vehicle, the child being dragged.

Meanwhile, in January, ASDA had to recall a range of its frozen doughs and pastries due to fears they were contaminated with salmonella. The pastries were part of a larger recall held by BakeAway, which pulled 16 of its raw pastry products from the shelves due to the issue. The recalled ASDA pastries were ASDA Pizza Dough, ASDA Ready Roll Light Puff Pastry and ASDA Ready Roll Puff Pastry.
