Encore dog food recall overview:

  • Who: Encore recalled Beef Selection in Gravy multipack dog food.
  • Why: The product may contain small pieces of metal.
  • Where: The recall is effective in the UK.

Encore recalled certain tins of dog food because the product may contain pieces of metal.

The Food Standards Agency website posted the recall July 19. It includes Encore Beef Selection in Gravy multipack, batch codes LU1-343 and LU1-302, and individual tins of Encore Beef Steak with Potatoes in Gravy, batch code LU1343D.

According to the recall notice, the product may contain small pieces of metal which makes it unsafe for dogs to eat.

โ€œWe urge customers who have bought this product not to feed it to their dog and return it to the store with or without a receipt from where it was bought for a full refund,โ€ the dog food recall says.

The notice did not state how the issue was discovered, what caused it or whether any animals had been injured.

Encore not only dog food recall in recent months

This is not the only pet product to be subject to a recent recall.

In March, Sneydโ€™s Wonderfeeds Ltd. issued a recall for three of its dog food products after discovering one of the ingredients used was contaminated with salmonella.

Sneydโ€™s initiated the recall after a supplier alerted the company to a possible salmonella contamination in the Herb Blend that goes into its Sneydโ€™s Wonderdog Active Light, Sneydโ€™s Wonderdog Special and Sneydโ€™s Wonderdog Original products

That recall came after a similar dog food recall from Dogs Choice, which said its Frozen Chicken and Beef, Frozen Chicken and Beef Ready Meal and Frozen Chicken Liver were recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.

Encore said retail stores affected by the dog food recall will display point-of-sale notices.
