  • Where: UK

The UK Office for Product Safety and Standards has announced two recalls for Sea-Doo products, due to manufacturing issues that pose the risk of injury or even death to users.

Read on to find out if either of these recalls affect you, and what to do about it.

Sea-Doo passenger seat recall

On July 13, the office issued a recall notice for Sea-Doo Passenger Seats, as the passenger seat may unlatch from the watercraft.

“If this happens, the passenger may unexpectedly fall in the water, and this could cause serious injuries or even death,” the recall notice states.

Worldwide, the recall is for Passenger seats installed from factory on Sea-Doo GTI, GTR, Wake 170 and Fish Pro Scout personal watercraft on all model years 2021 and 2022 and on passenger seats sold as an accessory for Sea-Doo RXP MY 2021 and 2022 personal watercraft, the office said.

Customers have been contacted about the recall.

Sea-Doo audio system recall

Meanwhile the Office for Product Safety and Standards announced an updated recall July 13 for the Sea-Doo Spark Audio Portable System.

The system presents a risk of injuries as it may break and cause the audio portable system to dislodge from its support, the notice says.

“If this occurs, the Audio Portable System may hit the user and/or passenger and lead to serious injury or even death.”

In the UK, this affects six watercraft: one MY2020 and five MY2021. The parts and the repair procedure will be available on August 29, 2022 in the UK, and customers will be contacted by the company.

The makers of Sea-Doo are currently facing a class action lawsuit that claims Sea-Doo jet skis suffer from a dangerous defect that caused one to allegedly explode in Guatemala, injuring its rider.

Meanwhile, summer is a time where consumers must be mindful of summer safety. From complaints over fireworks to wildfires, these are the latest summer recalls and lawsuits to be aware of as temperatures begin to warm up.
