Chicken nuggets regarding the food safety recall

A number of food products have been recalled in the U.K. recently over safety concerns.

Some recalled food products are suspected to contain salmonella, while others present allergy or choking hazards.

Red Hen Chicken Contaminated With Salmonella

Lidl GB has issued a recall of Red Hen Breaded Chicken Nuggets and Southern Fried Chicken Pops due to salmonella contamination, according to a notice from the Food Standards Agency (FSA). Some of the products in the batch were found to contain salmonella.

The affected Red Hen Breaded Chicken Nuggets come in the 450g pack size and have a best-before date of February 2022.

The Red Hen Southern Fried Chicken Pops affected by the recall come in a 210g pack size with a best-before date of 5 Feb. 2022.

Typical salmonella infection symptoms include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramping.

According to the FSA, notices explaining the recall have been placed at the point of sale in Lidl stores. The notices also explain what consumers should do if they purchased either of the products.

Anyone who purchased either of the recalled Red Hen chicken products is advised not to eat them and instead return them to Lidl for a refund; returns will be accepted with or without a receipt.

Consumers may also dispose of the chicken and email a photo of the affected item’s best-before date and lot code to customer.services@lidl.co.uk. Those who choose this option will be refunded via letter.

Tesco Brazil Nuts Recalled Over Undeclared Sulphur Dioxide

Tesco is recalling a batch of its Finest Festive Belgian Dark Chocolate Brazil Nuts after the product was found to have been incorrectly packed with Tesco’s Finest Festive Fruit and Nut Selection, which contains sulphur dioxide, but does not indicate the ingredient on the label.

This incorrect labeling means the Finest Festive Belgian Dark Chocolate Brazil Nuts are a possible health risk for those with a sulphur dioxide or sulphite sensitivity.

According to the FSA, Tesco’s correctly packed Finest Festive Fruit and Nut Selection isn’t affected by the food recall.

The affected packages of Brazil nuts are the 225g pack size and have a best-before date of May 2021 and a batch code of L0075004.Dark chocolate covered nuts regarding the food safety recall

Consumers who have purchased the recalled product and are sensitive to sulphur dioxide or sulphites are advised not to eat the product. In order to receive a full refund, they should return it to the store where it was purchased or contact the Tesco Customer Helpline at 0800 505 555.

Nudie Snacks Protein Balls Contains Undeclared Milk

Buchanan Distribution Ltd. has recalled its Nudie Snacks Salted Caramel Brownie Protein Balls because the product contains milk not declared on the label, according to the FSA.

Because the ingredient is not listed, the protein balls are a potential health risk for those who are allergic to or intolerant of milk or milk constituents.

The affected protein balls are those in the 42g pack size. The package has a batch code of SCL02 and a best-before date of January 2021.

Consumers who have purchased the product and have a milk allergy or intolerance are advised not to eat it and to return it to the store where it was purchased in order to receive a refund.

Achachi Jelly Cups Present Choking Hazard

Yekta Foods has issued a recall of Achachi Jelly Cups sweets over concerns the product could present a choking hazard, Express reported.

The products contain carrageenan, an ingredient not allowed in jelly products because of its potential to be a choking hazard.

The company warns consumers could have purchased the Achachi Jelly Cups individually, which would mean the package doesn’t indicate the batch code or a best-before date, according to Express.

Because of this, all batch codes and best-before dates are included in this recall.

Consumers are warned not to eat the product and to return it to the store where it was purchased.
