Tesco Naughty Elf Projector Recall Overview:

  • Who: Tesco is recalling the Naughty Elf Projector Torch, which is made by PMS International.
  • Why: The supermarket chain says the torch has the ability to overheat when used.
  • Where: The torch is being recalled from Tescos nationwide.

Tesco is recalling a “Naughty Elf” projector torch, as the torch has the ability to overheat, posing a risk to consumers.

The supermarket giant issued the recall Dec. 9 for the PMS Naughty Elf Projector Torch with Six Assorted Lenses Two-pack product.

“We’ve been made aware that PMS International are recalling their Naughty Elf Projector Torch with Six Assorted Lenses Two-pack,” Tesco said in the recall.  “This is due to a short circuit that may cause the torch to overheat when it’s used.”

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits. It was not mentioned in the recall whether anyone has already suffered injuries due to the overheating torch.

Tesco said anyone who has purchased the torch should return it to a Tesco immediately where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.

Tesco Also Recalled Max All-In-One Cough & Cold Lemon Sachets This Year

In October, Tesco also recalled around 78,000 packs of its Max All-In-One Cough & Cold Lemon Sachets due to labeling which incorrectly states the amount of the medicine children under 16 can take.

Tesco says the sachets, which contain the drug paracetamol, should not be taken by anyone under the age of 16. The company has taken the medicine off the shelves while the labeling is fixed.

Meanwhile, as kids start sending out their holiday wish lists—and parents scramble to fulfill them—it’s more important than ever to have safety top of mind.

Toy manufacturers and retailers are facing both supply chain delays and global shipping issues, prompting a possible toy shortage that can lead consumers to scramble to buy products wherever they can find them, creating opportunities for unscrupulous sellers.
