Marriott Hotels faces a group action seeking damages for 339 million guests whose personal information was breached in a cyberattack that began in 2014.
Hackers targeted the Starwood Hotels guest reservations database in the attack and were able to obtain hotel guests’ names, addresses, credit card information and other personal data.

- Or any other brand owned or operated by Marriott International Inc. or Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide LLC.
- Lived in England or Wales at some point during the relevant period before 10 September 2018 and on the date the claim was issued. (The Court may order that the claimants needed to have lived in England or Wales on another date.)
- Were at least 18 on the date the claim was issued.
How Much Compensation Will I Receive?
If the case is successful, qualified Class Members will receive compensation for Marriott’s loss of control over their personal data.
The amount each Class Member will receive will be assessed by the Court.

Marriott Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over Data Breach
Marriott International faces a group action that seeks damages for 339 million guests whose had their personal information breached in one of the largest data breaches in history, Reuters reported.
The group action includes anyone who booked a room at any of the following branded hotels between 2014 and 10 September 2018: W Hotels, St. Regis, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Element Hotels, Aloft Hotels, The Luxury Collection, Tribute Portfolio, Le Méridien Hotel & Resorts, Four Points by Sheraton or Design Hotels
The cyber attack began in 2014, but was not discovered until 2018, according to Tech Crunch.
Hackers targeted the Starwood Hotels guest reservations database, collecting guests’ personal information such as credit card and passport data, telephone numbers and addresses.
The Marriott data breach class action lawsuit was been filed in London by Martin Bryant on behalf of millions of potential Class Members, This Is Money reported.
Bryant claims Starwood Hotels did not protect the personal information of millions of guests.
The hotel group did not notify guests until two months after the breach was discovered in 2018.
The incident was reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States.
The lawsuit demands an unknown amount of damages.
About 7 million Britons had their data violated in the data breach, according to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Eligible U.K. citizens who were guests of any of the Starwood Hotels brands before 10 September 2018 are eligible to take part in the class action-style lawsuit without any fees or costs.
Harbour Litigation Funding is financing the lawsuit.
