Morrisons Elements Scented Tin Candle Recall Overview:

  • Who: Morrisons is recalling its Elements Scented Tin Candles.
  • Why: The company says there is a risk that some candles may burn in an uncontrolled manner, presenting a fire risk.
  • Where: The recall is effective in the United Kingdom.

Morrisons is recalling its Elements Scented Tin Candles due to fears the candles could spark fires while burning.

In a recall notice, the company says all of the fire, water, earth and air scented candles are being recalled because “there is a risk that some candles may burn in an uncontrolled manner presenting a fire risk.”

The company is urging consumers not to burn the candles and to return them to their nearest Morrisons store for a full refund.

Morrisons Apologises for Inconvenience, Assures Customers of Commitment to Quality, Safety

“We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety,” the company says, adding that no other candles are affected.

Late last year, Morrisons had to recall its Morrisons Chocolate Cereal after tiny pieces of plastic were found in the breakfast food. Also last year, it had to recall its 6 Iced Buns, which contain milk but do not have the ingredient listed in bold type on the label.

And although none of the recalls have resulted in legal action, Morrisons is facing a multimillion-pound class action lawsuit filed by more than 25,000 former workers who say the company’s pay policy equates to gender discrimination. The former workers say they have been paid at least £2 per hour less than the distribution centre workers since about 2013 and may be worth as much as £100 million.
