Lidl GB has recalled Alesto Californian Pistachios Roasted & Salted and informed users not to eat the recalled products because they may have been contaminated with salmonella.
The products affected by the Lidl recall include 200g packs of Alesto Californian Pistachios Roasted & Salted with batch code LP200N22004 and a best-before date of 4 Oct. 2022 printed on the package, according to a food alert posted by the Food Standards Agency.
Consuming the products may cause salmonella symptoms such as fever, abdominal cramps and diarrhoea.
Notices will be posted at the point of sale in retail stores that sell the recalled Alesto Californian Pistachios to inform consumers why the product has been recalled and what they should do if they purchased the recalled pistachios.
Lidl advises consumers who bought the recalled Alesto Californian Pistachios not to eat the product. Consumers should return the recalled pistachios to a Lidl store for a full refund. Refunds will reportedly be issued whether or not a customer has a receipt.
“Lidl GB wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the Lidl pistachio recall notice states.

Lidl Alesto Californian Pistachios Consumers Should Not Consume Product
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to inform consumers about food products that should not be sold because they are associated with certain problems.
In these situations, the problematic food product may be taken off the shelves or recalled. When a product is recalled, customers are asked to return the product.
The FSA may issue a “Food Alert for Action” that provides local authorities with information about action that should be taken on behalf of consumers.
In the case of the Alesto Californian Pistachios, the FSA issued a recall and a food alert because salmonella was found in the product. Consumers who consume products contaminated by salmonella may experience adverse health effects such as fever, abdominal cramps and diarrhoea.
