Quorn Bites Recall Overview:

  • Who: Quorn Foods is recalling packs of its Quorn Sweet Chilli Bites, Quorn Korma Bites and Quorn Garlic & Herb Bites.
  • Why: The recall comes after the products were found to be mispackaged with incorrect labeling about allergens.
  • Where: The products were sold in ASDA, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Tesco and Ocado.

Quorn Foods is recalling three types of its Bites products after a customer discovered the products had been mixed up.

The company issued a recall notice on its website on Feb. 11 for the products Quorn Sweet Chilli Bites, Quorn Korma Bites and Quorn Garlic & Herb Bites.

The products are being recalled because of mispackaging that resulted in potentially incorrect allergen labeling, the company said.

“The withdrawal follows notification from a consumer that a Quorn Korma Bite, which contains known allergens, was found in a pack of Quorn Sweet Chilli Bites,” the recall notice said.

The products were sold in ASDA, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Tesco and Ocado with best-before dates between 11/02/22 and 21/02/22.

The company advised all customers with mustard or milk allergies not to consume the products.

“If you have bought any of the above products and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents or an allergy to mustard do not eat it,” Quorn said. “Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

For all other customers there is no health risk and the products are safe to eat, the company said.

Quorn Says Safety, Well-Being Of Customers “No. 1 Priority”

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Quorn added that the safety and well-being of its customers was its “No. 1 priority,” which is why it instigated the withdrawal as soon as it became aware of the issue.

The news comes after Quorn issued a similar recall in 2021 when 18,912 packs of Quorn Vegetarian Turkey and Stuffing Slices appeared to have a labeling error.

The product contained wheat, a known allergen, but was sold with a ‘Gluten-Free’ logo.

Meanwhile, IKEA UK is recalling its frozen IKEA Huvudroll Vegetable Balls after some packs were found to contain pieces of plastic.

In a recall notice, the company says a broken production line caused the plastic contamination in one isolated batch of Huvudroll Vegetable Balls. The affected vegetable balls are sold in a 1,000-gram pack and have a best-before date of Oct. 26, 2022.
