Aldi is recalling Harvest Morn Crisp Rice breakfast cereals in England, Wales, and Scotland after bits of plastic were discovered.
The recalled cereal was sold in 375 g packs with a best before date of November 2021 and batch codes of 10470953, 10480953, 10490953, according to a notice issued on 7 April 2021 by the Food Standards Agency (FSA). Customers are instructed to return the recalled Harvest Morn Crisp Rice packets to the shop.
“If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund,” says the FSA.
In addition, recall notices will be posted at shops’ point of sale” explaining to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
“If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product)”, continues the FSA notice about the Harvest Morn Crip Rice recall. “The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food.”
Cereal and Other Recent Food Recalls
The Harvest Morn Crip Rice recall joins another breakfast cereal yanked from UK shelves last week after pieces of plastic were discovered. Indeed, tiny pieces of plastic were found in Morrisons Chocolate Cereal, prompting a recall notice by the FSA.
Nestle also recalled baby formula products earlier this month after the discovery of pieces of plastic that babies could choke on. The plastic reportedly came from the scoops used to dispense the product.
Plastic is not the only contaminate that has prompted a recall. Last week, three popular baby foods were urgently recalled over concerns about apple stalks. The recalled products included Aptamil Oats, Raisin & Apple Bircher Muesli 10+ months in the 275-gram size and Aptamil Multigrain & Fruit Muesli 10+ months, also in the 275-gram size.
