John Lewis Highchair, Spirit Dispenser Recall:

  • Who: John Lewis recalled a highchair and a spirit bottle dispenser.
  • Why: The highchair has parts that can break off, posing a choking risk, and there is a risk of chemical contamination from the battery of the bottle dispenser.
  • Where: The recalls are effective in the UK.

Homeware Store John Lewis recalled a highchair and a spirit bottle dispenser as one poses a choking risk to children and the other poses the risk of chemical contamination.

The UK Office for Product Safety and Standards website announced both recalls May 5.

Safari Highchair Recalled Due To Choking Risk

John Lewis recalled its Safari Highchair from sale “immediately,” it says.

The company says the tray arm caps can break off, creating a potential choking risk for small children.

The white and grey infant’s highchair with a safari-themed seat cushion has the product code 31341125.

“The safety of our customers is very important to us, so as a precaution we’re recalling this product from sale immediately,” the John Lewis recall says.

Consumers who bought the highchair between May 2, 2021, and April 25, 2022, should “stop using it, and return it to your nearest John Lewis shop for a full refund.”

Customers can also exchange the highchair for an alternative product, if they prefer.

Final Touch LED Bar Caddy 4 Bottle Spirit Dispenser Recalled Due To Chemical Contamination Risk

John Lewis also recalled Final Touch brand LED Bar Caddy 4 Bottle Spirit Dispensers.

“This is because there is a risk of chemical contamination from the battery,” the company says.

The product is a silver caddy four-bottle spirit dispenser with the product number 84581316. It was sold at John Lewis from Jan 1, 2019, through to April 7, 2022.

“If you purchased this item between these dates, ‘do not use, package up item and return to your local John Lewis & Partners for a full refund or exchange it for an alternative product,’” the recall says.

John Lewis did not state whether there had been any incidents relating to the recalled items.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

The news comes after baby product manufacturer The Little Green Sheep recalled three of the charms sold for its curved and A-frame baby gyms sold at John Lewis due to a choking hazard posed by the wooden rings on the charms.
