  • Who: Holland & Barrett has recalled a batch of its Hulled Sesame Seeds.
  • Why: The sesame seeds were recalled after salmonella was detected in the products.
  • Where: The recall is nationwide.

Holland & Barrett has recalled a batch of its Hulled Sesame Seeds after salmonella was detected in the products.

In a recall notice posted by Foods Standards Agency, the company says the recalled sesame seeds are in 125 gram bags and have the batch number 158674 and best before date of Sept. 2022.

It urges consumers not to eat any of the sesame seeds and to return them to the store of purchase for a full refund.

In the customer notice, Holland & Barrett says “the safety and quality of our products is very important to us.”

“We would like to reassure you that no other Holland & Barrett products are affected by this issue. As part of our rigorous health and safety process we check the quality and safety of each and every batch of our products, and so we can very quickly react to make sure any issues are swiftly dealt with,” the company writes. “Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.”

Point Of Sale Notices To Explain Recall To Customers

The recall notice says Holland & Barrett will display point of sale notices in all retail stores that are selling the sesame seeds, and the notices will explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

In January, Jus Rol had to recall four of its frozen pastry products due to possible salmonella contamination just days after BakeAway recalled numerous frozen pastry products for the same reason.

In the recall notices posted by Holland & Barrett, Jus Rol and Bakeway, the companies said symptoms caused by salmonella typically include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
