Snaffling Pig is recalling its Perfectly Salted Pork Scratchings after salmonella was detected in the product.

In a recall notice posted by the Food Standards Agency, the company says it is recalling the 45-gram packets of Snaffling Pig Perfectly Salted Pork Scratchings with a best-before date of 11 June, 2022. It is urging consumers not to eat any of the affected scratchings and says that symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps

“The safety and quality of our products, and wellbeing of our customers, is of the utmost importance to us. This is an appropriate measure on that basis,” the company says in a consumer notice.

Snaffling Pig Offering Full Refund, Apologises For Inconvenience

The company said that all Snaffling Pig products “undergo rigorous quality and food safety inspections as part of our manufacturing process.”

“We can confirm that no other Snaffling Pig products are impacted by this recall and would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience that this has caused,” it said. “Thank you for your understanding.”

Snaffling Pig says it is offering a full refund for items returned to the store of purchase and is adding point of sale notices in retail stores that sell the scratchings, which explain why the product is being recalled and what to do if you have purchased it.

Just last week, UK producer Holland & Barrett had to recall a batch of its Hulled Sesame Seeds after salmonella was detected in the products.

In a recall notice posted by FSA, the company says the recalled sesame seeds are in 125-gram bags and have the batch number 158674 and best-before date of September 2022. It urges consumers not to eat any of the sesame seeds and to return them to the store of purchase for a full refund.
