Baby Teether, Soother Choke Risk Recall Overview:

  • Who: The UK Office for Product Safety and Standards is recalling three different baby teethers/soothers due to a choking risk.
  • Why: The products do not meet national safety standards and have parts that pose the risk of choking and strangulation.
  • Where: The recall is nationwide.

Three teether and soother products are being recalled nationwide by the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards as they pose the risk of choking or strangling babies.

The three recalls were issued Mar. 25 on the UK safety website.

The news comes as three children’s pull along toys were also recalled in the UK, over concerns they presented a choking and strangulation risk. The recalled pull-along products are the Kids Baby Activity Pull Along Toy Learn To Walk, the Xtone You De Le Children’s Wooden Pull Along Drum Car Toy and the Wooden ‘Hen Lays Eggs’ pull along toy.

Personalised Soother, Dummy Clip Recalled

A personalised soother and dummy clip sold on eBay is being recalled as the product presents a risk of choking due to detachable beads and a risk of strangulation due to exceeding the maximum permitted length, according to the recall

On the product, there are coloured beads and lettered beads spelling out names.

“The product’s press studs and beads can detach under forces less than the permissible minimum, producing small parts and presenting a high risk of choking,” the recall states. “The product was also measured as greater in length than the maximum permissible length outlined in the standard, presenting a risk of strangulation.”

The soother has eBay product number 254234846279.

Mr Bite Turtle Bracelet Teether Recalled

Mr Bite Turtle Bracelet Teethers are being recalled as they present a serious risk of choking due to their shape.

The product is a pink polymer teether comprising a turtle and a cord loop threaded with polymer beads.

“A child can put part of the toy in their mouth and fall whilst the teether is in their mouth, which can cause the child to choke,” the recall notice states.

The product has been recalled from end users and the listing removed by eBay, the notice states.

ECO Baby Teether Infant Bracelet Toy Recalled

The ECO Baby Teether Infant Bracelet toy is being recalled because the product presents a serious risk of choking due to easy access to small parts, the recall notice states.

The product is a teether, comprising two wooden rings attached to a cord loop thread with silicone beads and packaged in a small plastic bag with white backing.

“The wooden rings broke into small parts under the 8.7 impact test,” the recall notice states. “This presents a serious risk of choking as a child may insert the beads into their mouth, blocking the child’s airway.”

The product has been recalled from end users and the listing removed by eBay.

None of the companies are currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
